Yo, I'm Eryk! Welcome to Riftvale's first ever blog post. I'm a software developer who's been following Hytale's development on and off for about 7 years (W's in the chat for Simon buying it back). I'm excited to finally dive into the world of Hytale and build something I've always wanted to make. A server with personality, soul, and uniqueness.
What We're Aiming For
Riftvale's long-term vision is a lore-rich, minigame-focused Hytale server with a hub world (Riftvale) that feels alive. We want more than just a place that feels like a lobby. Think quests, shops, NPCs, and a cozy community vibe.
From Riftvale, players will enter fractured realms (our minigames). Each will feel different, replayable, and handcrafted. There will be PvP, PvE, Survival, and other cool weird sh*t that doesn't even fit in a category. Play these games to earn essence, a points system that resets every week. Climb the leaderboard, and if you land in the top 10 by week's end, you'll be proudly featured in Riftvale and on this website for that week. Top 3? You'll get a one-of-a-kind temporary cosmetic as a reward to flex on all the haters.
Where We're At
Right now, I'm mostly building solo, with a couple of friends helping on the admin and server sides. We might launch a vanilla server early just to let people enjoy the game on day 1 while we build the really fun stuff.
I also want to highlight that there will be no pay to win, any purchases will be cosmetic/fun only. For transparency, as I'm currently the only technical person working on Riftvale, I may occasionally use AI tooling to help speed things up behind the scenes. It's strictly a development tool, and any content it touches is treated as a placeholder and refined by hand. I care deeply about the soul of this project, nothing will ever be soulless, lazy, or up for sale if AI touched it. Any game experience will be fully handcrafted.
